IT'S AWFUL: Kitchen Reno Update & Progress Pics
If you've been following me around here for a while you know that we are in the midst of a FULL BLOWN kitchen renovation. That means that we literally tore down every (and I mean EVERY) inch of the existing kitchen...and then some, to make this kitchen our dream kitchen. Sure that may sound pretty amazing, but actually enduring it is a completely different string of emotions.
I always feel like when I write out how I'm truly feeling on the inside that people are going to read this and think "wow, how completely ungrateful can she be?! She's getting a brand new kitchen!" Which is true...I totally am getting a brand new kitchen, but ungrateful I am not. We have worked hard to get this kitchen, and to me, since we've moved into this house I feel like I've woken up from a dream every day. This house is everything and MORE than I could have asked for. I keep telling people if a house could represent a person this house would represent me. :) So when you hear me, please know these are my inner most, vulnerable thoughts and emotions and I want to share them ALL with you.
This project is a HUGE undertaking; heck these last 6 months have been a huge undertaking: completely flipping and selling 2 houses within 3 months, buying a third, moving, refinishing over 2,000 sq/ft of hardwood floors, and undergoing a major kitchen renovation WHILE living in that same home with 3 kids is INSANITY and far from glamorous. I have seen more dust and dirt than should be humanly acceptable and I wake up every morning feeling so incredibly displaced; nothing is settled, there are still so many boxes in storage, untouched until this project comes together. We have been washing our dishes in the same sink we brush our teeth and have made a make-shift kitchen in the unfinished basement. See...totally not glamorous! :)

If you know me, you know how big of a perfectionist/clean freak I am, so not being able to truly live in a space in its entirety, let alone have it be clean is stretching every. single. inch. of me.
I can say with confidence that this is probably one of the hardest phases I have ever gone through. And while I am overwhelmed most days, I also feel this incredible peace over me each step of the way. Which I know, can ONLY be my Papa God, because I should be a WHOLE lot crazier given the circumstances. But honestly, that's just the goodness of our God; when we submit to HIM and understand that His way is better than ours, then we can face each day, each circumstance with the purest form of peace. And it's only through HIM that we can experience this kind of peace.
Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus
Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable -- if anything is excellent or praiseworthy -- think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me -- put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.

So to those of you wrestling with the same out of control, in your face, circumstances...this one is for you. Because I know what you may be feeling; I can relate with you and tell you for certain that you are not alone.

We've successfully taken out the wall between the kitchen and the living room, which we found out during construction that this is indeed NOT a load bearing wall like we originally thought. Removed the plaster around the pipe chase to expose that beautiful read brick; found the original hardwood floors underneath 2 layers of flooring and tar paper; and rewired and set our new electrical lines. Currently we are in the process of getting drywall work done and at the end of this week we should be able to start refinishing the floors. After that it's cabinet time!
And what's even better...we have a HUGE surprise for you all! So stay tuned for that!!!!!
