KINDRED HOMESTEAD is run by us, Guy & Tessa Kirby, a husband and wife partnership known for curating intentional spaces that blend together the classical timelessness of decades past with today’s functionality.
Located in Central Illinois, we offer a unique design experience that embraces quality craftsmanship, approachable design, and creating charm-filled solutions.
When we’re not working with clients or renovating an entire home, you can find us fixing up our own 100 year old Craftsman home alongside our 4 kids; typically documented over on our Instagram. Our family has always been our “why” in everything we create. And we have always wanted to cultivate an environment in our home for our children to feel seen and heard in. We want them to grow up in spaces that feel inspiring, lived-in, and comfortable.
And in doing so, our mission has become to help others authentically express that same feeling in their homes. We can help you in a variety of ways, whether you just need a little pep talk, or you want your hand to be held throughout your entire project, we are here to help.

How We Got Started…
What started as a simple hobby in 2015 turned into an aspiring career for us at just twenty-two years old. Totally broke and married with 2 kids we had just finished our collegiate careers at the University of Illinois. I (Tessa) began flipping furniture in our little apartment garage, which slowly turned into a passion for transforming spaces. This “itch” spread into a full blown dream to transform homes!
With Guy’s newly acquired Real Estate license we began searching for homes we could fully invest into. And in 2016, while pregnant with our third child we closed on our very first home. That little bi-level home started a long time love for transforming houses into homes that not only represented beauty but functionality for our family as well. Since then, we have found a passion for restoring homes that marry together the timeless charm of old and the modern functionality of today. And we incorporate both of those elements into every project we do.
Meet the Team:
Tessa, is a University of Illinois graduate and self made interior designer. When creating spaces for herself and others, Tessa loves to find where beauty meets functionality. With her ability to marry together found pieces with classic inspired living, she is able to create spaces that tell a unique story while cultivating a rich sense of comfort.
Meet Tessa —
Guy is local to Champaign where he completed his degree at the University of Illinois. Along with his Real Estate expertise he also leads the Project Management, and General Contracting side of Kindred Homestead. Guy is the total brunt behind Tessa’s visions; he’s the one that makes it all happen behind the scenes. Whether you need to look at houses in the area or you need an on the ground manager, this is your Guy.
