$12 Farmhouse Candlestick Hack
Farmhouse candlesticks for only $12???
Yes, you heard that correctly...$12! You guys this is seriously the best DIY hack yet and that means something coming from the DIY queen herself! :) For years I have wanted to buy these chunky, farmhouse, ultra distressed candlesticks; you know, like the ones from Magnolia Market? But everytime I go to purchase them I can't stomach the prices. I mean honestly...it's ridiculous!
So on accident my husband came up with this ingenious idea (I'd like to just take a second and gloat about how well I've taught my husband when it comes to DIY projects...ok, that's all, end gloat!) to make candlesticks out of table legs from our farmhouse kitchen project. So despite the fact that we are still in the midst of unpacking boxes, conducting an entire kitchen remodel AND making our own farmhouse dining room table we still ended up having time to whip out a couple candlesticks in the process!
*Are we slightly over the top??? Maybe so.
But this cheap AND incredibly easy DIY hack will seriously save you a boat load of money while giving you that modern farmhouse, Joanna Gaines look that you may be dying for. So before I spill the details, I have to first tell you how this whole "accident" came to be.
Like I mentioned, my husband and I are making our own farmhouse dining room table when in the midst of the project we realized that we cut the table legs too short, but before we ended up scraping the "unworthy" pieces of wood, Guy had this amazing idea to make them into candlesticks! BRILLIANT! So after cutting them down to size, I took my favorite chalk paint, slopp-ily brushed on a coat of paint and called it good!
*It's important to note that I purposefully painted each piece imperfectly. I didn't want them to look perfectly polished; I wanted them to look like they'd been around the block, ya know what I mean? So if you want to go for that look as well, make sure to have fun with it and work with your brush to create the look you want. Also, it took me about 20 minutes total to paint FOUR candlesticks and just about as long for them to dry so I'm telling you, this project is QUICK and easy (not to mention affordable).
