I'm A Christian & Sometimes I Swear A Little...Or A Lot

Can I just be honest with you all? It's true. The fact of the matter is...sometimes I just really like the way a swear word sounds rolling off the tongue. It feels so good! Especially when I'm angry; there is just nothing like the way a swear word feels when your angry.

I know that sounds awful and so "un-christian" like but truth is, this is my safe place so I want to know it's ok when I cuss a little or A LOT. Because the thing is...I do. I wish I could say with confidence that I wasn't a "cussing Christian" but if I'm being all in genuine with you...this is the truth of the matter.

I grew up in a house hold that never heard the echoing's of ANY bad words, let alone a curse word. So when I "became an adult" and started truly "discovering" myself I found it incredibly satisfying to drop the "f" bomb every now and again. It's funny because I can remember the first time I ever said a swear word; I was 15 years old and I had just received my drivers permit, I remember driving with my mom in the passenger seat when all of the sudden somebody cut me off.

"HOLY SHIT!" I screamed

"TESSA" my mother yelled with the utmost surprised look on her face!

And trust me the words surprised ME probably just as much as they had her but in the same breath I kind of felt a sense of exhilaration.

Like that was kind of fun!

From that moment forward I have always been a "closet curser;" sheepishly muttering words under my breath to feel that same sense of of exhilaration I did so many moons ago. Now please don't hear me wrong...I don't condone this type of speech and do my very VERY best to never curse in front of my children. I actually hate watching a show or movie that spews out curse words like they're this forsaken way of speaking. But I thought I would shine the light on this topic to destroy the shame that so many of us feel for not having it "all together."

Let me speak frank here...I will never have all my shit together. I just won't. And neither will you. The closest we will ever get to perfection is looking at the face of Jesus Christ. We are made perfect because of our Heavenly Father and it is only through Him that you will find your true worth.

"For God, who said, 'Let there be light in the darkness,' has made this light shine in our hearts so we could know the glory of God that is seen the face of Jesus Christ. We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves." 2 Corinthians 4: 6-7

As always, thank you for stopping by! xoxo, Tessa
