Zion’s Bedroom “Grow Up” & How We Repurposed Furniture

A couple years ago this room got it’s first makeover when it became the gender neutral nursery. But now, just three years later our “baby boy” isn’t such a baby anymore. We knew it was time that we upgraded him to a new bed. And while we wanted his space to feel fresh and new we didn’t want to spend any money on the transformation. So we didn’t.

Everything we used in this space were things we already had! And it’s amazing what a little creativity and rearranging can do to a space. To see the before pictures check it out here! Scroll down to read about what we did to recreate this space into a room Zion can “grow up” in.

His bed came from his brother and sisters old room. We ended up completely refinishing some of our bigger kids room earlier this summer and when we switched out THEIR beds we had a twin bedframe to spare which came in handy!

His dresser was something we had when we made over this room 3 years ago, we just changed its location (it used to be where the hutch is now).

The hutch (isn’t that thing a BEAUT!) was something I bought off of facebook marketplace over a year ago (for a completely different purpose and then decided later on that it wasn’t going to work out) and when we needed something to host all his books and some of his toys this hutch became the perfect solution!

Everything else in the room (i.e. the rocking chair, rug, wall art, even the bedding) were all things that I already had in his room or found lying around the house.

It’s truly amazing what a little rearranging and creative thinking can do for a space!
