Cozy Cabin Inspired Bedroom
Last week I shared the moodboard for this bedroom HERE and since then I found yet another piece of bedding while out and about that I just fell in love with. This heritage quilt that I picked up for less than $50 at Home Goods and knew it belonged in this room.
Something that I wanted to emphasis in this post is that you don’t need a huge budget to makeover a room. You don’t need to recreate the wheel or break your back over some overly complicated wall feature, you just need a good vision to help guide you in your shopping adventures. That’s why I always create moodboards. And every time I feel like I’m losing inspiration on a project, I revisit that moodboard.
I started this entire makeover knowing I wanted THESE curtains from Two Page Curtains. They have so many quality centered window treatments and there are so many to choose from. The minute I hung these it was an instant room facelift. And helped guide the rest of my design plan for this room. Once I knew the direction I wanted to go, I headed to the thrift store and some local antique shops to pick up some vintage inspired items that would really make this room look and feel cabin cozy.
I realized quite quickly that I was really drawn to wood duck decoys when thinking about the overall design direction for this room and so I just ran with that and the minute I set my gaze on that I saw them EVERYWHERE! I’ve found with antique and thrift shopping, it’s best to go in knowing exactly what you’re looking for, otherwise you can find yourself getting overwhelmed very quickly.
For the bedding, I shopped at places like Home Goods, Target, and Amazon. And the thing is, I just allowed myself to really let go of having it all be matchy-matchy. And honestly, doing that was so freeing. I had so much fun collecting different fabrics, textures, and patterns and seeing how they all worked together so seamlessly.
Every item used in this makeover, aside from the nightstands, and wall sconces (and bedding) were all “found” items (meaning, they were all found at second hand stores, antique stores, or on Facebook marketplace) and I absolutely love how collected and cozy this whole space looks and feels. Never underestimate the power of decor and window treatments!
