Our Timeless Dining Room Light Fixtures

When I was working full-time with clients, one reoccurring pain-point I would often hear was about fixtures. Namely light fixtures. So I wanted to do a deep dive into our dining room light fixtures and explain why we chose them, where they’re from, and why I chose the finishes that I did.

You can find even more details about these light fixtures HERE.

When starting this dining room makeover my entire vision was centered on bringing this room back to it’s original glory and enhancing it using materials and finishes that would have been prevalent during this time period. Our home was built in the early 1920s and so we knew that brass (seeing as all of our door knobs and hinges are brass) was a finish that was very prominent during this time. Which is why I wanted our a lot of our fixtures to have a brass finish.

We chose the Crissey sconce for our window bench for it’s elegant design and gracefully curved arm. And the pleated shade just completes the whole look with its timeless texture and design.

Wallpaper for this room can be found HERE.

The Berkshire Double Sconce was a must in this space simply for its traditional design and elegant candlestick arms. Nodding to early Colonial design but made a bit more modern with its linen shades, they look like they have always stood in this spot flanking our beautiful oak craftsman doors. I also love the oval backplate! So timeless. We chose aged brass for our finish.

And lastly the 24” Conical Drum Light. I had originally picked a different light entirely for this makeover but last minute changed my mind because I loved the soft texture and sense of comfort this one brings. It has such a cozy element about it that drew me in. And I just knew that gathering around this light would make over times around the dinner table so much more intimate.

So why did I choose to mix the metals in all these fixtures? You might be thinking.

Simply put, I don’t like to keep my finishes too “matchy-mathcy,” I’ve learned that spaces feel much more collected and timeless when there is a feeling of imperfection. And secondly, I wanted to break up the brass with a pop of modern. I love that the Conical drum light is the only light that really steps away from the 1920s era and nods a bit more modern.
