Years ago, I remember being at a friends house and sitting in her couch and asking her immediately where it was from because I had never (and I mean NEVER) sat in something so beautiful and so comfortable at the same time! That day put Sixpenny on my radar and I have been dreaming of having my own ever since!

When searching through their beautifully curated selection of sofas, I was instantly drawn to the the Esme sofa for its soft curves and timeless design. I also loved the fact that it was a slipcovered sofa, making cleaning and maintaining 100x easier. Something you have to factor in when you have 4 kids plus all their friends over!

We ended up choosing the 96” Esme sofa in their Washed Cotton Velvet, in the color Midnight Nori. This is a beautiful olive green shade and felt like the perfect color tone for our living room. We also chose the feather down fill for that sink in feeling I remembered experiencing all those years ago at my friends house. And the comfort does not disappoint!

Truthfully though, this decision was so hard for me. I went back and forth probably close to 100 times on which material to go with on this couch. And I was so surprised that I ended up choosing the velvet material option but truth be told, I wanted that vintage inspired look and this fabric just fit the bill! I have never owned anything velvet other than my velvet curtains that I recently swapped out for these new ones.

I wasn’t sure about how it would attract dust and hair or how it would even feel against my clothes. But all my “worst fears” regarding the material quickly faded away the first time I sat on this sofa. It truly feels like the biggest, coziest hug! The first day it arrived I passed out on it and never slept so good! That’s saying something because I don’t take naps! And we haven’t had any issues with dust, dog hair or lint! Honestly, it hides everything really well! :)

One of the other material options I was up in the air about was the Recycled Poly Weave. This is considered to be their best performing fabric yet, as it has the heaviest weight, meaning it will stand up to high traffic homes, kids, and pets. Its composition and weave make it impressively simple to spot clean, machine wash, or dry clean.
